The Crimson AI Challenge

Artificial intelligence is already transforming how we teach, learn, research, and work across the University of Utah. From improving administrative processes to accelerating discovery and enhancing student experiences, innovative uses of AI are emerging throughout our community.

To help spotlight these efforts, the Office of Artificial Intelligence and AI Leadership Team are launching the Crimson AI Challenge this fall. The challenge will invite faculty, staff, researchers, and students to share their AI in Action stories showcasing how artificial intelligence is being used to solve problems, save time, improve outcomes, or create new opportunities across the university.

Submissions will be considered across several categories, including:

  • Research & Scholarly Activity
  • Teaching & Learning
  • Administrative Operations

The AI Leadership Team will review submissions and highlight AI projects that showcase impactful, innovative, and responsible use of AI. Selected participants will be awarded additional AI credits, an opportunity to present at the Student-Led AI Symposium, and recognition through university AI communications.

Whether you're using AI to support student success, enhance research, streamline workflows, or explore new possibilities, we want to hear your story.

More details, including judging rubric and timelines, will be shared soon.
