University Shares Guidelines for AI in Research and Teaching

The University of Utah AI Office is sharing guidelines to clarify how existing university rules apply to the use of artificial intelligence in research and teaching.

Anyone participating in research at the university is encouraged to read these guidelines, which are expected to evolve over time. All are invited to attend a virtual forum on August 5 at noon to learn more.

The Martha Bradley Evans Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) has also refreshed its AI Tools for Education page. The CTE page includes an updated overview of AI, a new section on why it matters, and practical resources to help instructors get started—like tips for teaching with AI, guidance on data security, updated syllabus language and course policy tools, and ideas for building AI literacy. You’ll also find highlights of innovative ways AI is being used in teaching across campus.
